I was not born to be a sugar artist..

Yes, don't think I was born to be a sugar artist, I can't even draw "orang kayu" properly! So, can you imagine when I had an order to do Transformers or Ben 10 figurines??!! And it was on short notice....I wanted to turn down the order, but my dear friend Safura, insisted that I cook up something for her 4 year old Arman, not one set, but two...so, I told her I have done teddy bears before (from my lesson with Lyn Hassan @ Wilton's). So, teddy bear it was..... The pictures weren't very good, I was in a rush to feed my little man...
Arman is 4!
I wanted this to look like a painting/sketch by a young boy, but think it was not a very good job...I handle sugar flowers better....

Despite all this, when Safura and Arman came to collect the cakes, he couldn't stay away from the cakes..."Mama, are these mine?", he asked....hmm, it's so easy to please a young man...thank you Safura for the orders!

Joie de viere...Part 1

One matter sorted, but many others waiting...now take 5 Yani!!

Some of the pictures taken while we were in Ayer Baloi during the school break last week. Ever since the house was restored, this has been our destination during short breaks. It is so peaceful here even though the house is built next to a main road from Batu Pahat to Johor Bharu...I call this place "joie de viere..the joy of life"...you will know what I mean when you see these pictures and their stories...
The courtyard, with a new touch, new turf and frangipanies and deck chairs coming, hopefully in time for Eid this year...
Drawings of old buildings in Melaka on the wall...
Fish is available, fresh from the "laut"...Pontian is a coastal town...at 8 in the morning and 4 in the afternoon, and this where I usually get my daily supply of seafood. They are very very fresh...
Air khatira...Johor is famous for this. My Yusof will ask for this every day for iftar. This was taken in Bazar Ramadan in Ayer Baloi town which is 3 minutes walk from the house.
The row of shops in Ayer Baloi town.
This is where I get my groceries and vegetables..Hajar gazing outside from my car..
The house from an angle, the window with the light colour curtain is my room..
Hajar and Muhammad...afternoon nap..
Khadijah doing her revision...and Yusof , too, a tiny wee bit of revision...
Basketful of dukus, think there are 3 or 4 duku trees behind the house, and it was the duku season...

Peeps....

Am back in the office...new boss...somehow every time when I return from my maternity leave, there is something new in the office, new pay, new role, now new boss and apparently new tasks...ah well, one needs to change to grow! Am still blur, so many things to read, meetings to attend, and it's only the first day.....
