Sugar Buns

Hi you alls! It's the time of the year that people let their hair down and chill and relax! I, on the other hand will only be going for a holiday with my hubs in January! I have busted my leaves, but driving to work when a lot of people are on holiday, means there is less traffic!

I have not been trying new recipes lately, been pretty occupied with my orders...and been having visitors at home. But last Saturday, I made this Sweet Buns...well, I call this Roti Naik! According to Rina who has kindly shared this recipe, you can use this basic recipe to make just about any kind of bread that you wish.

So, I decided to make Sugar Buns...the kind that I like to get from any bakery. I started making this after breakfast while piping some macaron shells, and the buns were ready in time for tea! 


Ingredients
200g bread flour
100g plain flour
6g instant yeast
55g sugar
140g milk
1 egg
1/2 tsp salt
45g butter
1/2 tsp bread improver


Method
Well, this was how I made them...I didn't print instruction that Rina gave me!
Warm milk, sugar, salt and butter on medium fire just to get the butter to melt, stir the mixture and add dry yeast. Add the bread improver. Cover with a cling film and let it rest for about 15 minutes or until the mixture becomes frothy.
In the mean time, in a large bowl mix the flours together and break an egg. When the milk mixture is lukewarm, add the mixture into the flour mix and knead the dough becomes springy. Cover with cling film and let is rest for about 45 minutes or the dough has doubled in size.

Punch down, and I divided the dough into small portions, lightly knead with butter and made them round balls, place in an 7 inch cake tin, sprinkle some sugar, let it rest until they rise a bit. Bake at 170C for about 25 minutes!

Heheh! This is Rina's method!

1.Combine all ingredients in a mixer, except the butter.
2.Beat at medium speed until a dough is formed, and then add in butter.
3.Continue to knead until an elastic dough is formed.
4.Cover the dough and let it proof for 45-60- minutes.
5.Flatten the dough on a lightly floured surface.
6.Divide the dough into about 55g each portion and rest for another 10 minutes.
7.Shape into round balls and arrange on a greased baking tray.
8.Cover and leave to rise for 45 minutes until doubled in size.
9.Bake in a prehaeted oven at 190C. 


Voila! There you have Sugar Buns! Easy peasy and definitely they are nicer than store-bought ones!

  3. finally..resepi roti yg i cari2..asyik lupa nak tanya from,y mom..nanti nak try buatlah after come back from kedah...and yani, eleena asyik mintak i buat macarons jea..dia tak tau yg mak dia punya oven ada sikit bengong..tunggulah...suhaila
