Karipap Pusing Tahun Baru!

It was the New Year's weekend, and we decided to stay home. Hubs had asked if we wanted to go to Malacca or PD, all my kids gave a big "NO" answer! So, what did I do, then?

Ahah! Karipap Lapis for New Year's breakfast .....(and that was at close to 11 am, when all was done!). It was easy, but mine was really comots! The recipe asked to use margarine, I used Vitalite as it was soft even from the fridge, hehe...and I used Light Tuna Mayo which I later cooked with curry powder...the taste....sedap!  Of course! Anything home made with tlc is sedap!


I got this recipe from Mat Gebu's blog a long time ago, and also this made by Ribbon and Circus (hers were work of art!). Tqs Mat Gebu, tqs RC!


So, here's the recipe in Bahasa, keh keh keh!

Bahan Inti
300g kentang, kupas, cuci dan dadu kecil dan rendam
1 tin ikan tuna, toskan
1 biji bawang besar didadu
2 ulas bawang putih
1 camca sos tiram, saya tak dak sos tiram
5-6 helai daun kari...saya punya pokok daun kari dah nak botak!
2 camca besar rempah kari
sedikit gula, saya tak bubuh
kicap cair, saya guna garam bukit
1 cawan air

Cara
Panaskan minyak dalam kuali, tumis bawang merah putih, sampai harum. Masukkan rempah kari, tuna dan air. masak hingga kering dan kentang agak empuk.


Bahan Pastri
A
260g tepung gandum
50g margarine, saya guna Vitalite margarine
20g gula halus
1/2 camca teh garam
140ml air, lebih kurang

B
180g tepung gandum
80g lemak sayuran (shortening), saya guna Vitalite margarine

Cara
1. Satukan bahan A, kecuali air, gaul rata dan tambah air sedikit sedikit sehinnga doh lebut dan tak melekat.
2.Satukan bahan B, rehatkan bahan A dan B selama 20 mins...saya siapkan inti ketika menuggu waktu ini.
3....hmmm the tricky part...bahagikan doh A dan B kepada dua bahagian.Biar sama besar, bulatkan doh doh tadi.
4.Ambil satu bahadian doh A, leperkan, dan letak diatasnya dog B. Balut hingga doh A  menutupi doh B. (Buat kaedah yg sama untuk satu bahagian doh A dan B tadi.)
5.Canai doh (4) tadi membentuk 4 segi, dan canai dari arah depan hingga hujung, dan tepi....sila lihat cara di blog Mat Gebu ya! Canai hingga ketebaln 2 mm...think this where I got mine wrong...tak berapa nipis mine! Gulung doh tadi dari depan hingga hujung macam gulung swiss roll.
6.Rapikan gulungan tadi dan potong kepada 8 bahagian. Ambil 1 potongan dan canai hingga leper 3 mm, isi inti, kelim (I like this kelim kelim part!).
7.Goreng dengan api sederhana....err saya sangat tak suka karipap yang menggerutu :p

And here's the Karipap Pusing...horror!


After I made the karipap I made this! And a Red Velvet Cake! Dry ingredients for Bill's Big Carrot Cake, I used dried cranberries, ran out of raisins for a last minute order from Bella!


...and the day before I made this...super easy, just cut into squares frozen puff pastry, wrap mini sausages (which I boiled a bit), smear some beaten egg, sprinkle with grated cheddar, and bake at 150C for about 25 minutes!


A copy of the Red Velvet recipe that I have tweaked and use all this while! Only I can understand what's here and the jottings!

  3. Karipap pusing ku suka banget.. nasib baik kat dalam freezer still got karipap sayur frozen yg ku order hari itew.. nak pi goreng ahhh hahaha

  6. KG, sebelum raya, i buat 8kg gandum untuk karipat pusing nih, tapi i guna pure butter, much more healthy without transfat and too much omega-6...deep freeze..orang mai goreng ..orang tak mai, makan sendiri, lepas 6 bulan pun okay lagi..camera apa buat ambil gambar?

  10. cik cek , memang pun karipap pusing yg my aunty buat lagi cantik and sedap, most times i order dari dia saja!tapi i nak kena cuba vuat jugak, if not tak tahu cemana cara dia!
